I know this is such a common thing to see, the free travel and hotels stuff but trust me when I say this is different.  While everyone has heard of or knows something about earning airline miles and hotel stays they are not often aware that they don't have to fly or stay at a hotel to earn miles or points.

Almost every major airline, hotel chain and also Amtrak has a virtual mall. These malls include every store that most of us frequent daily such as Macy's, Kohls, Target, CVS, Nordstrom and hundreds more. You could be earning at least 2 miles for every single dollar that you spend.

You Don't Have To Stay To Earn:
Sign up for Marriot Rewards and do your shopping in their virtual mall. Think about it. Once its spent its spent never to be seen again. But if you spend it online through just one of the hotel sites you get something back. It's like building another savings account.  Another great hotel rewards program is InterContinental Hotels (Crown Plaza, Holiday Inn, etc.)  While they don't have a mall to shop in you can sign up for their rewards and build stays for free nights.   

For all my traveling rollerskaters out there you know those trips can get costly.  Start building points to supplement those trips.  Build points to pay for half if not all of those trips. Anyone that has attended or plans to attend the biggest trip of the year (ATL) knows that this one can be quite costly.  So far I have accumulated enough  Marriot Rewards to pay for half of my hotel stay already. 

Earn Airline Miles Without Taking A Single Flight:
Need Airline Miles? Sign up to all of the frequent flier programs especially Delta and American Airlines. Whenever you shop online just log into your favorite airline and shop through their virtual mall.  It's that simple. With American Airlines they now have a Toolbar Download making it easier to shop. Oh did I mention they are giving a bonus of 500 miles for downloading it.

Don't like to shop online?  Need To See, Feel, Try It On?
American Airlines has added new incentives. Instead of shopping on their site purchase gift cards instead. Purchase gift cards for your favorite store through American Airlines.  Purchase a $50 gift card for Macy's, CVS, Victoria Secret, etc. and earn 150 miles or more for each one that you purchase. This way you earn your miles and can still shop in-store. Or register a credit card and shop their in-store retailers, but this is limited to a few stores so far such as Sears and Sally Beauty Supply. But hey every little bit counts
